for a friend. Is there anything I should look out for?

Kinja'd!!!

It really is for a friend, if I was looking for a car it’d probably have a roundel or three pointed star on it.

Your “friend” should check the frame rails..otherwise, these are basicly land cruisers..

Check and see if the timing belt has been serviced. Also check on the air suspension. Air suspension problems on the LX is a well known issue

They’re better appointed and cheaper than Land Cruisers, which is why he wants one. It really is for my friend; if I was looking for a new car it’d probably be a stick 128i.

I forgot these were still timing belts. Guess Toyota thought it was still a good idea to use timing belts on an interference engine.

Check the fluids of course, check the timing belt, miles are nbd, look at the suspension. Other then that no problem.

Air suspension and they tend to eat brake pads. So check for excessive wear.

Check if the timing belt has been done (every 90k) and if the front wheel bearings have been repacked on time (every 30 along with all 3 different fluids). Check the the low range gearbox isn’t frozen and that the ride high control is functioning properly (hydraulic fluid level)

Usually all that is good. These things are insanity reliable

They are easy to do though.

These are such excess and overkill for the overwhelming majority of suburban North America and I love it.

LX470s use a hydraulic system, not air. You're thinking of Land Rovers. The hydraulic system is relatively robust, but ensuring that it can freely move to all positions is recommended.

You're thinking of land rovers. The LX470 has a hydraulic system and the brake wear is no worse than any other SUV of the same size. An LR3 however would munch brake pads for lunch.
